Stability took part in this global Rick and Morty art installation by engineering “Glootie,” one of 14 temporary sculptures that temporarily popped up during Fall 2022 in cities all over the world as part of a GLOBAL ALIEN INVASION OF SPACE WORMS! The Atlanta sculpture displayed a Volkswagen Beetle supported by the character Glootie and was installed outside the State Farm Arena. We worked with the VW ID.3 steel constructors to accommodate the capabilities of the steel shop to work with the allowable sculpture materials, and created a design for components that could be transported and assembled on site without requiring welding during field installation. Atlanta’s installation coincided with the 2022 DragonCon science fiction convention held during Labor Day weekend.
Some of the other sculptures display the show’s characters hanging off a windmill blade in the Netherlands, trapped inside a claw machine in Manila, and battling space worms near the Sydney Opera House and in a subway stop in Toronto. Atlanta’s installation coincided with the 2022 DragonCon science fiction convention held during Labor Day weekend. In the words of Rick himself, “To live is to risk it all; otherwise, you’re just an inert chunk of randomly assembled molecules drifting wherever the universe blows you…”
