The Swag Resort
Chestnut Lodge and Check-in Facility

For The Swag mountain resort complex, we provided structural design and construction oversight for the extensive renovation of a 4-story multi-unit lodge along with new construction of a 2-story check-In and staff office building, hot tub overlook pavilion, and spa cottages. Modifications to the Chestnut Lodge included framing out an existing 2-story basement level racquetball court into additional rooms and amenity spaces, and adding new upper floors framed into the existing open balconies and lofts. New roof dormers were added, and existing roof, wall and floor framing was re-supported to allow for the interior wall re-configuration and new mechanical duct routing and chases.

The 2-story check-in facility includes a check-in cabin and office, with drive through breezeway and golf cart parking. The split level structure has wood framed floor and roof over concrete basement walls, and porches with timber trusses and timber post.

Project challenges included foundation design for the new buildings along the steeply-sloped grade of the mountaintop site, as well as custom stone masonry veneers and heavy timber framing design.
