Gainesville, Georgia has a fiery new guardian. An initiative of Public Art Gainesville and installed in Roosevelt Square, The Dragon was inspired by the long running Atlanta Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival hosted annually at Lake Lanier and was designed by artist Todd Vaught with Confluence Design.
For this project, we provided foundation design, including coordination with anchorage points and plumbing and electrical conduits, as well as coordination with the landscape architect on concrete material and mix design. The foundation design also included an overturning wind analysis for the tall sculpture. She stands 14 feet tall and 30 feet long, and comes to life at noon, 6 p.m., and 9 p.m. each day.
