Figo, Marietta Street

This is a partial rebuild and an addition to an existing masonry building to accommodate a new restaurant. The interior of the building was opened up, changing the system from a load bearing wall to a post and beam system. New openings in exterior masonry walls required special consideration due to the building’s age and original condition. Most of the existing second floor required replacement in this building which had previously been un-maintained.

King & Duke

Demolition & build-out for 5500sf restaurant at the intersection of Peachtree & Roswell Roads. Structural work includes primary steel column relocation, storefront & patio steel frames, kitchen & roof equipment supporting steel, and interior feature structures, including a custom steel-framed brick oven & hanging wood ceiling.

Little Azio, Norcross

Remodel of existing commercial space into restaurant. Re-routing shear resisting system at front of building and adding canopy and roof top units.

Mellow Mushroom, Bristol VA

Structural engineering and design for heavy timber, steel, masonry and light gage restaurant. The structure featured a custom steel cantlilvered canopy, tension rod collar ties and steel timber connections. The project was also modeled in Revit.

The Optimist, Atlanta, GA

Structural engineering and design for remodel of 1920’s industrial warehouse into restaurant space. The project featured new lateral bracing for seismic forces, new windows, parapets, new wall penetrations.

Rumi’s Kitchen

Structural engineering and design for conversion of auto parts supply/garage to restaurant, including new patio canopy and wall openings, as well as rooftop clerestory popup.

Saltyard Restaurant

Stability Engineering provided consulting and structural design services for a 4000 SF restaurant buildout on the street level of a high rise condominium in Midtown Atlanta. Structural features include steel-framed entry canopy, light-gauge framed equipment mezzanine, and exposed custom heavy timber trusses. Stability also provided consulting for duct and plumbing penetrations through the existing post-tensioned concrete floor slab over the underground parking deck.

St. Cecilia Restaurant

Stability Engineering provided structural items for this 7000 s.f. restaurant space renovation on the street level of a high rise apartment building over a basement garage. Design features include steel-framed extension of existing mezzanine, new metal-framed entrance platform and stair landing, and structural frame for 18ft tall bar shelf towers.

Superica at Krog

Stability Engineering provided structural design for this 7000 s.f. restaurant space renovation within the Krog Street Market redevelopment. Design features include metal and steel-framed interior and exterior freestanding masonry walls, steel-framed halo over exterior bar, and exterior patio foundation walls. The coordination and marrying of new structure to the existing 1920s-era warehouse provided unique engineering challenges, particularly the freestanding masonry wall at the exterior bar, which is tied into the existing truck loading dock roof structure.

Taqueria del Sol, Athens

Structural modification and addition to existing gas station in transition to restaurant. Features pre-engineered canopy with inverted pendulum for shear resisting system.
