Adamsville Recreation Center

This gym had fallen into disrepair and disuse since the new $13 million Adamsville Recreation Center and Natatorium opened. Working with a small budget, we assisted in giving this 30-year-old brick building a new entrance with ramp and new reinforced exterior openings. We also designed a full-length, steel-framed concrete deck mezzanine supported by new footings, and stairs for mezzanine access. The gym is now enjoying a new life as a well-used Senior Center.

Bitsy Grant Trail

This is a 1/3 mile long trail between the existing Atlanta BeltLine Trail in Tanyard Creek Park and the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center on Northside Drive. The trail serves as an important link between neighborhoods on the west side of Northside Drive and destinations such as Piedmont Hospital, Colonial Homes, and Ardmore Park. Stability provided the engineering for the retaining wall next to the tennis courts and for the abutment foundation walls for a multi-span 130-foot steel and concrete bridge over Tanyard Creek.

Camp Barney

Wood-framed pool house and staff quarters for a children’s camp. The buildings are supported on augured pier foundations and wood posts to accommodate a sloped grade under the building. Cantilevered joists support walkways to maximize the efficiency of the foundation and flooring system.

Chastain Park Tennis Pavilion

Hollow core concrete plank elevated slab supported by concrete and CMU masonry walls.

Cobb Tennis Centers

Stability Engineering provided structural design and consulting for three new tennis centers at Harrison Park, Terrell Mill Park, and Kenworth Park in Cobb County. The 4300 s.f. tennis centers are composed of masonry walls with large window openings and wood roof trusses on slab on grade and include wraparound covered patios.

Grant Park Recreation Center

For the recreation center in this historic City of Atlanta park, we created a new two-story addition to the front of the building with structural steel and masonry, creating a new canopied entrance, elevated porch structure, stairs, elevator, and utility room. In addition, we created new exterior masonry foundation walls for additional interior conditioned space, by enclosing and infilling exterior ground-level recessed areas.

Little Five Points Community Center - Horizon Theater

For this historic building in the iconic Little Five Points neighborhood, we added an exterior elevator tower and a new entrance feature, integrating new masonry structure into existing masonry. In addition, we provided new entrance openings and multiple balconies.

Noguchi Playscape, Piedmont Park

Restoration of 1970’s playground designed by Isamu Noguchi which had been damaged by moisture, exposure, settlement and previous maintenance. Many of the structures including the triple slide, the spiral slide and the concrete play mound.

Stone Summit, Atlanta

Over 9,000SF, Stone Summit is the largest climbing gym in the US. SE was contracted by Walltopia to design the structural system for the interior climbing walls as well as the building itself.
