Buford Highway Law Offices

About the Project

This two-story office building has architectural features including a very unique geometry at the main entrance featuring a skewed/slanted wall with exposed steel framing, openings, and windows. There is also an open deck space overlooking N. Peachtree Creek behind the wall. The structural design for this wall required custom steel framing with attachment points back to the steel frame and concrete floor slab. The office’s second floor windows extend beyond the first floor window, which required cantilever steel connections and custom framing.

The building also has parking below and offers views of Midtown and Downtown Atlanta. There is one elevated concrete slab over the parking and a second steel-framed floor and steel framed mono-slope roof. The site proved challenging for foundation design and construction, requiring bedrock removal along with rock anchoring for the lower level foundation walls and column footings. This building proved to be challenging from an architectural, structural, and construction standpoint with many custom features to design and construct. This building breaks the mold for “boring” office space and showcases the talents of all team members.
